Thanks! I do love Hiraya. I do not squirm at the edgy. But to be honest, it may be difficult for an artist to outdo Jojo Legaspi, one of my favorites, who does the profane and sacrilegious with such finesse. But again, I did not see the Dilla show.

Lasallians welcome inter-galactic Visit of aliens
Aliens are coming to Taft for a one-man exhibit of international artist Jan Leeroy New at the Black Box Studio of the School of Design And Arts Campus of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. Entitled “Creatures of Imagination: Peculiar Faces in Common Places”, the retrospective exhibit will showcase resin and fibreglass sculptures that are out-of-this-world. Opening is on August 25, 6Pm onwards. It runs until September 3, 2010.
Jan Leeroy New is the one of the country’s up-and-coming Visual Artists. Young at 24, He has wowed spectators at the 2008 Singapore Biennale and the 2009 Fukuoka Trienniale with his gargantuan sculptures of sci-fi, religious and historic themes. Recently, he was shortlisted for the 2010 Ateneo Art Awards. He is represented by galleries such as the Drawing Room, Blanc Gallery, Art Informal Gallery, Manila Contemporary Gallery and The Ateneo Art Gallery.

So I’m currently working on my new exhibition, and I’m looking for a place to do it in Manila in January 2012.
My name is Mega and I’m a french artist.
The project’s name is “longing to be knotted together”.
The exhibition is currently touring in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Europe.
The exhibition is in a series of 11 screen-prints with exclusive new visuals.
The size is 50x70cm per visual, 2 colors numbered and signed on a thick hi quality art paper with a special personal embossing.
I’ll also produce a series of paintings.

British Council hosts Sotheby’s Institute of Art Presentation on Career Pathways
The British Council will host a presentation by Mr. Phil Whitakker at 6pm on Thursday, June 9 at their office, 10th Floor, Taipan Place, Emerald Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig CIty.
Entitled “Your Pathway to a Career in the International Art World,” the presentation will include an overview of the international art markets and a presentation on potential career opportunities in the global visual arts market. This one hour presentation will be followed by a Q & A session. This presentation will be especially useful for: art history majors, anyone interested or working in the art industry, graduating students, career changers interested in the arts and others interested in the visual art markets.
Mr. Whitakker joined Sotheby’s Institute of Art in February 2007. He was recruited specifically to be the Director of Sotheby’s Institute of Art Singapore. He redesigned Sotheby’s programmes for delivery in Asia and set up the initial programme which ran in Sep 2007. His key areas of interest are cultural economics and art valuation.
Sotheby’s Institute of Art is the pre-eminent graduate and postgraduate educational institute for students seeking a career in the international art world, and it offers world class art education from the Institute’s study centers in London, and New York. The Institute has over 350 students a year exploring both the scholarly and business sides of the art world to gain the skills and professional networks necessary for a successful career.

British Council hosts Sotheby’s Institute of Art Presentation on Career Pathways
The British Council will host a presentation by Mr. Phil Whitakker at 6pm on Thursday, June 9 at their office, 10th Floor, Taipan Place, Emerald Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig CIty.
Entitled “Your Pathway to a Career in the International Art World,” the presentation will include an overview of the international art markets and a presentation on potential career opportunities in the global visual arts market. This one hour presentation will be followed by a Q & A session. This presentation will be especially useful for: art history majors, anyone interested or working in the art industry, graduating students, career changers interested in the arts and others interested in the visual art markets.
Mr. Whitakker joined Sotheby’s Institute of Art in February 2007. He was recruited specifically to be the Director of Sotheby’s Institute of Art Singapore. He redesigned Sotheby’s programmes for delivery in Asia and set up the initial programme which ran in Sep 2007. His key areas of interest are cultural economics and art valuation.
Sotheby’s Institute of Art is the pre-eminent graduate and postgraduate educational institute for students seeking a career in the international art world, and it offers world class art education from the Institute’s study centers in London, and New York. The Institute has over 350 students a year exploring both the scholarly and business sides of the art world to gain the skills and professional networks necessary for a successful career.
The institutes’ faculty includes scholars and renowned practitioners in the art world and is further enhanced by experts in the field including artists, scholars, auction house specialists, restorers, critics, curators, writers, museum executives and gallery owners. Learning from and working with such scholars and professionals help students to enhance their skills as well as to establish professional relationships.
Sotheby’s Institute of Art has more than 6,000 alumni worldwide. Master’s degrees are awarded in collaboration with the University of Manchester in the UK.
